Although this isn't a conditioning camp, skaters should be prepared to work hard!
This class isn't about skating as fast as you can; in fact it's quite the opposite. Because constructive repetition is key to muscle memory, a great deal of this class will focus on slow methodical skating techniques. As the skating quality gains consistency, more speed will then be incorporated.
We will cover: Forwards and backward strides, lateral skating patterns, quick starts, tight turns, jumping, sliding, spinning, breathing, and much more.
Helmets aren't mandatory as we won't be shooting pucks, but full gear from the shoulders-down is required as well as a stick. Don't forget your water bottle.
Depending on the size of enrollment, the classes will be scheduled according to skating level and age. Additional ice will be booked if required. Please email Patricia Hole (hhole@mts.net) with the number of skaters you would like to enroll, their age and which weeks, 1, 3, or 6, that would work best for you.
We will take everyone's request and try to organize groups and ice time accordingly.
